The Lathers

In 1930, the Michigan Theater opened its doors with lavish décor giving its people a place for entertainment.  On December 2nd, 2023, the Michigan Theater opened its doors for a romantic and merry wedding setting.

This wedding, to kick off the holiday season and to celebrate the beginning chapter of love was the perfect excuse for Christmas trees, pines, golds, and night mood candles.  When you have a winter wedding, your décor is already identified for you, making the celebration cozy yet allowing your own twist, and for Brittany and Bridget, their décor dream boards were an easy vision to turn reality.

Kicking off my last wedding of 2023, I could not have been more excited to join in on the overjoy of love for Brittany and Bridget.  A bit bias as I personally know both brides, my heart strings were pulled as I truly have never seen them happier as they said I do in their stunning dresses surrounding by family and friends.

A special duty of mine was to keep both brides separate before the big reveal of their first look, and let me tell you, I even got emotional when I saw each of them!  Bridget and I have known each other since 7th grade, we went to middle school together, high school, we went to prom with our circle of friends, and our families have been close, so to see her as happy as she looked on her wedding day was a reminder of how special being a wedding planner truly is.  Brittany and her family are like a second family to me.  I have basically grown up around them since high school and have seen Brittany graduate high school, become a mother, and now marry the love her life.  Of course, it is always an honor to be at every single wedding I lead, it says something when you know the couples, and their families, it tends to be a full circle moment.

During the ceremony, no one went unnoticed and that was Brittany and Bridget’s doing.  From the littles being pulled in a wagon, to an extra rose being carried by Bridget’s MOH in honor of their sister.  And even to celebrate with their bridal party after they sealed their marriage with a kiss at a well-known Jackson bar for shots and drinks before they made their grand entrances at the reception.  Brittany and Bridget have one thing in common and that is their family values – and it does not go unnoticed.

There is a unique magic of winter weddings – cozy ceremonies, seasonal cocktails, warm colors, and florals, not to mention vendor availability, but the overall winter wonderland vibe.  For Brittany and Bridget, their reception venue was by far the most romantic setting from the marble floors, to drop chandeliers, to the gold detailing in the ceiling tiles.  And when you pair their color scheme of black bridesmaid dresses and dark hunter green suits, the style was as good as it could be.  All standing before Christmas trees while they said I Do, the winter wonderland they created was stunning.

The reception had fresh greenery so it’s as their guests walked directly into a winter wonderland from the pine scents they were greeted with. The candles made the event intimate, and the golds tied everything together.  Black tie affair meets modern day.

This couple was overwhelmed with love and gratitude.  They were blessed with so many wonderful family and friends who remain constant in their lives, showering them with genuine love and support.  The night went on with laughter, dancing, speeches, and special moments.  Kids were having a blast on the dance floor and taking selfies at the photobooth, while guests were enjoying cupcakes made by Brittany’s aunt, which were delicious by the way!

The most epic moment of the night, elevator photos!  I think every couple needs to incorporate these fun and flirty photos if they have an elevator at their venue – I mean, how cute are these!?

Winter weddings are said to be the best season for better decorations, comfort foods – they just have a lot going for them.  For Brittany and Bridget, their winter wedding on December 2nd was just the beginning of something wonderful.  I have no doubt that their story will have multiple chapters as they build their lives together, and I can’t wait to continue seeing their love for one another flourish.

Warm Wishes to the new Mrs. and Mrs.

They truly made it a December to remember.
