October 21, 2023, the biggest rivalry game known between two Michigan football teams. October 21, 2023, is also the day, two individuals came together to say I do, surrounded by friends, family, fall weather and thank goodness, with a few prayers to mother nature, no rain.
Planning a fall wedding can bring its own set of hurdles, especially when in Michigan, and when the weather can be unpredictable. October can be hot and sunny, there could be rain in the forecast, or even a chance of snow flurries – you just never know. For Makenzie and Josh, their planning had a few changes as they originally went from a beach wedding to a rooftop setting, and Makenzie even went through the unimaginable dress regret and with just a few months shy of the wedding, ended up purchasing her dream dress, while the original dress sat in a closet, unseen. All these roadblocks were just reminders of what was to come. The hard work, the tears, the planning pressure, is all worth it in the end. All of it leads to one thing, your dream wedding, and the end result of being married, with a new last name!
The details did not go unnoticed for this wedding. From wax seals on the invitations, to personalized bridesmaid necklaces, to etched groomsmen glasses, and lots of DIY projects that truly made this wedding unique. Thrift stores became the norm for finding the special and distinctive pieces Makenzie wanted for her tables to come together.
Spray paint, layers of eucalyptus, gold accents, dashes of rustic flowers – this Fall wedding came together with autumn aesthetic. Surrounded by loved ones, the cozy atmosphere was the perfect setting, and the mood of warm tones and mood lighting gave stunning elements for this enchanting season to make this truly a magical day.
It may have been cold, but with a determined photographer and a few bottles of champagne for warmth, the bridesmaids huddled around their bride to get some of the most stunning photos at the Gravel Pit. The clean background, reflecting the light back onto the group was a huge bonus, amid mist and colder temperatures. Who else can say they popped champagne bottles, drank Boones Farm and as a result, have some of the most idyllic photos while surrounded by gravel!?
Makenzie and Josh did not forget about the special significance and moments during their special day. Whether it was surprise socks for the groom, an extra special bouquet handoff to the mother of the bride, a sweet first kiss dip, or the best, Josh’s face while Kenzie was escorted down the aisle with her dad. From the man himself who said he wouldn’t cry…he had all his guests and bridal party shedding tears!
Friends and family, they are a big part of who you are, and they are an even bigger part of your wedding day as they surround you with love and support. Your guests will never forget the fun touches you infused to make them feel welcomed, and Makenzie and Josh went all out once their photographer grabbed her camera, the DJ made an announcement and the newlyweds sat front and center!
Holland, Michigan – known for one of the most loved flowers, the tulip, and a frequent visited tourist destination for the lakeshore no matter rain or shine, there is always something to do.
October is the month of pumpkin spice, and everything nice. But going forward, The Olrich’s will always have something nice to celebrate come October. And for Josh, hoping he can bring home a few victories for the Spartans too!
Makenzie and Josh, wishing you both many more happy days in the years ahead. Your day could not have been more perfect with vibrant hues of orange and yellow, while the air was crisp. Guests enjoyed an outdoor ceremony, enjoyed a rich dinner inside, and then after toasts and full bellies, a fun night of dancing and desserts began.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Olrich!
