The Ultimate Backyard Celebration in Michigan
After a week full of pop-up storms and heavy humidity, Michigan gave us a wedding miracle: the most perfect Saturday weather imaginable. Clear skies, a gentle breeze, and just enough sunshine to warm the day—everything aligned beautifully for Zach and Hayley’s backyard wedding. Nestled beneath a towering tree for the ceremony and celebrated under a tent wrapped in twinkle lights and disco ball reflections, this day was everything a summer wedding should be: relaxed, joyful, and full of personality.
Zach and Hayley were surrounded by their closest friends and family, wrapped in a color palette of warm oranges, soft purples, and muted sage greens. The decor was the perfect balance of simple and stunning—bud vases lined the tables with fresh florals, cheesecloth runners brought in soft texture, and DIY elements tied it all together in a way that felt uniquely them. From the ceremony space to the reception tent, every detail had that magic touch of intentionality that I love so much as a planner.
Hayley looked absolutely breathtaking in a gown that truly felt like it was made just for her. The silhouette, the elegant neckline accessory, the most incredible shoes—it all came together to create a bridal look that was nothing short of show-stopping. Her bridal party complemented her beautifully, wearing dresses in varying shades of her wedding colors—an on-trend and effortlessly chic touch that brought such depth to the day’s aesthetic. And Zach held his own in a sharp, classic black suit, while his groomsmen wore coordinating greys that pulled everything together with timeless style.
This wedding was full of unforgettable moments and delightful surprises. Guests were treated to signature drinks from the Tipsy Gypsy, an adorable mobile bar that looked straight out of a Pinterest board. It was hands-down one of the cutest setups I’ve seen—and yes, the drinks were flowing! The groom’s aunt created DIY charcuterie cups (topped with pearls, no less!) that added a whimsical and delicious element to cocktail hour. And a photo guest book captured everyone’s smiling faces, alongside heartfelt words for the couple to look back on for years to come.
The energy was infectious all night long, thanks to a DJ who also happened to be a close family friend. The dance floor was never empty, the speeches were filled with love and laughter, and the newlyweds shared their first bite of wedding cake—cut in the shape of a heart—before dancing the night away. As if things couldn’t get any better, late-night pizza arrived at just the right time to keep the celebration going strong.
