A September Wedding to Remember: Jake & Abby at Irish Hills

September 6th will forever be one of my favorite wedding memories—not just because it was such a beautiful day to plan, but because this wedding was family. I had the joy of wearing two hats: wedding planner and cousin, and I couldn’t have been more honored to help bring Jake and Abby’s vision to life.

From the very beginning, Abby was the most prepared bride. She had every detail checked off her list far in advance, which meant when her wedding week arrived, she could truly soak in the excitement without stress. That kind of intentional preparation paid off in the most magical way.

The weather couldn’t have been more perfect for a Michigan fall wedding—crisp 60s, with a touch of moody clouds early in the day. But as soon as Jake kissed his bride, the clouds parted and the sun poured over Irish Hills, blessing the evening with golden light.

The design was dreamy: rich rusty tones, soft golds, and glowing candlelight set the perfect scene for stepping into fall—and into marriage. The bridesmaids were stunning in burnt orange dresses, hair and makeup flawless, while the groomsmen sported the easiest bow ties (pre-folded!) and boutonnières tucked into pocket squares with no pinning required. And Abby? She took everyone’s breath away in her gown, complete with a statement bow that was nothing short of to-die-for.

The sweetest detail of the day came during the ceremony, when Abby’s grandfather officiated. Nervous but filled with love, he married his granddaughter to the man of her dreams and later signed their marriage license—a memory Abby will treasure forever.

Guests were spoiled with thoughtful touches, from “Cookies by Lisa” at every seat, to a delicious charcuterie spread during cocktail hour, to a dessert table overflowing with sweet treats. The night carried on with incredible music, laughter, and joy—just the way Abby and Jake envisioned.

For me, this wedding was extra special. Abby and Jake, watching your love blossom over the years has been a privilege, and getting to celebrate not only as your planner but as your cousin was such a gift. I know your story is only just beginning, and I can’t wait to see all the beautiful memories, laughter, and adventures ahead.

Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Stanton—what a perfect start to forever.
